As a New Jersey Native, I am a fiend for a good breakfast sandwich. I used to love nothing more than starting my day off with a Bacon, Egg, and Cheese on an everything bagel. The problem? I would damn near fall asleep after eating the bagel, which clocked in at over 50g of carbohydrates.

Dr. Anthony Chaffee, who appeared on Episode #76 of our show, recently gave a brilliant 30 minute presentation at Low Carb Down Under. The above presentation is a 30 minute masterclass in regards to optimal human nutrition. He breaks down why plants are in fact harmful and why a meat-based diet is optimal in regards to nutrient-content, digestibility, and overall bioavailability.
Our goal with the Meat Mafia is to offer you different nutritional perspectives so you can develop your own framework for what works best. We are not telling you to immediately pull plants from your diet, but there have been many people that have benefited from removing them altogether.
Experiment, iterate, and find what works best for you. ⚡️
🧠Thought of the Week: “Let Technology Work For You, Not Against You”
There are seemingly limitless fitness-related technologies & wearables that exist in the marketplace today: Fitness watches, sleep rings, smart mattresses, continuous glucose monitors, etc.
These tools can be valuable by gathering unique data points in an effort to improve your overall level of health. For example, wearing a Garmin watch from 2018-2021 allowed me to gain insight into my resting heart rate and daily activity levels which improved my performance as an endurance athlete.
However, it is also easy to become a slave to your data. The technology should be used only as a tool to help you improve your quality of life.
A “tool” is something that works for you
A master is something you work for.
It is easy to obsess over the data and become stressed if your recovery score on your watch is not “optimal.” By doing so, you are making the technology your master.
You should have an intrinsic level of understanding over how your body feels. You should intrinsically be able to feel that you had a good night’s sleep and are properly recovered. You should not need to rely on a watch to tell you that. Even if you did not get the best night’s sleep, that should not hold you back from working hard that day & getting after it.
Success is determined by your ability to stay disciplined regardless of your feelings. The purpose of achieving optimal health is so you can do badass things and live the best possible life. Your focus is not to obsess over your data. Your focus is to use the technology merely as a tool to improve your health.
