The War For Our Children's Food
We are continuing to go up against plant-based dietary dogma being pushed on our children
The war for our food continues to rage on, with New York City public schools being the focal point of it all. NYC Mayor Eric Adams & NYC Department of Education (DOE) Chancellor David C. Banks just announced the launch of New York City’s First ever “Chefs Council.” The goal of this council is to teach students at a young age to “eat healthy, nutritious meals” in an effort to “set them up for success.”
The council will be chaired by Rachel Ray and numerous other well-known chefs. The Chef’s Council will develop over 100 “scratch-cooked, plant-based, and culturally relevant recipes” which will be rolled out onto public school lunch menus across the city. Here are a few of the other chefs that will make up this council:
You really can’t make this shit up at this point. I am an eternal optimist. I genuinely believe that the truth always wins out in the end. However, we are up against a storm of nutritional misinformation, propaganda, and dogmatic practices that will need to be overcome.
Mayor Adams is continuing to push his own plant-based dietary preferences on our children. In 2021, Mayor Adams implemented Meatless Mondays for all NYC public schools. When that wasn’t enough, he implemented Vegan Fridays in February of 2022. NYC Children will now be deprived of animal protein for 40% of their meals being served in school. Keep in mind, many children are dependent on school lunches to be their primary source of food. The meals look truly appalling, as evidenced below:
Seed oils, Refined Grains, Sugar, and glyphosate-sprayed vegetables.
This is what our children are being served. I try to stay reserved and not let my emotions get too heightened, but this truly pisses me the fuck off.
I have no issue with Mayor Adams choosing to be plant-based. I have an issue with the Mayor pushing his own dietary preferences on the public and forcefully depriving our children the right to receive animal protein. There are many studies that show how important the bioavailable nutrients deprived from animal-sourced foods are for cognitive development (Iron, Zinc, Iodine, B12, Riboflavin, etc).
What are the long term last effects of this?
To top it off, Mayor Adams revealed that he does “occasionally eat fish.” This is a common theme amongst many “vegan elites” that most do not know about. They will incorporate just enough animal protein throughout the month to correct their micronutrient deficiencies that they may have on a plant-based diet.
It’s time to wake the fuck up. Not even for ourselves: But for our children. We have a right to Real Food as God & Nature intended. No governing body has the right to deprive you of that. Arm yourselves with information. Share relevant podcasts, books, and documentaries. If we don’t speak up, what we are seeing in NYC will be replicated far & wide sooner than you think.
Love you all,

During the Covid lockdowns in Michigan, with Big Gretch at the helm, nearly everyone with children of any age was compelled to receive the school lunches “so that we can continue to get funding for the children who actually need it.” So, we dutifully received what a friend dropped off at our door each week, for our 2 year old. Who promptly turned up his nose at all of it. (Smart kid, he is.) My husband and I were appalled. We grew up in the 80s and 90s with our mothers packing our lunch boxes every day, so we had no idea. The thought that kids who are already struggling with lack of resources are being offered “whole grain” Froot Loops for breakfast AND snack...and gross pre-cooked breaded chicken patties for lunch...is horrifying, and honestly just...sad. But my husband and I ate some of it because “we didn’t want to be wasteful”, etc. Which promptly earned both of us elevated liver enzymes and subsequent ultrasounds and NAFLD diagnoses. Well. We got our heads on straight, started donating more of the food (is this even ethical? I don’t know) or just outright tossing it, and a year later, all of our labs are completely normal. Number 4bajillion on my list of #askmewhyihomeschool.
